2. Battle of Algiers, The

Description: The Battle of Algiers (or La Battaglia di Algeri if you prefer the original French title) is a remarkable movie about the sublime horrors of war. Directed by Gillo Pontecorvo, this 1965 documentary tells the story of the Battle of Algiers, which pitted a French colonial government against an emerging group of revolutionary Islamic rebels, who used terrorism and suicide attacks to gain independence, but lost this battle - as the French used torture to extract information to break up and destroy the terrorist cells. Ultimately, the country did gain independence, but only after the French broke the revolutionary movement. The movie is very realistic, though no archive war footage was used in the creation of this film. The story tries to tell an unbiased review of events that transpired during this tumultuous period for the Northern African country.

3. IL Bidone

Description: The LikeTelevision™ Movie channel proudly presents IL Bidone - a disturbing dramatic tragedy by Federico Fellini - starring Broderick Crawford (best known as Dan Matthews on Highway Patrol) as a small time con man named Augusto. He's a detestable character who cons peasants out of their life savings by impersonating a Monsiegnor from The Vatican. But Augusto is getting old, and you can't help feeling sorry for him when he tries to rip off his fellow con men, by stealing the crippled girl's family's money to finance his daughter's education. Huh? Yep - old Augusto is low as they come - and he has a great Karmic meltdown in the end. Also stars Richard Basehart (Captain from Voyage To The Bottom of The Sea) as Picasso, a young con man with a family. Part of Fellini's Trilogy of Loneliness!

4. Street Fighter, The

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - The Street Fighter (Gekitotsu! Satsujin Ken) starring Sonny Chiba. Originally released in 1974 - this is one of the most graphically violent martial arts films ever made, and as such - it is NOT for kids. The violence is over the top - in fact, when the movie was first released, it received an X rating, even though there is no course language or nudity. This is the cut version - which tones down the violence a wee bit, and and received an R rating.
