96. Heinz Pickles TV Commercial

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a classic Heinz Pickle TV Commercial. Many years before the memorable Heinz slow ketchup Commercials, they offered these ads for their pickles. This one features a lady who goes whacko when she gets a soggy pickle at a fine restaurant. While it would be easy to put in some kind of snappy presidential campaign comments between John Kerry (married to Teresa Heinz Kerry) vs. George Bush - i will leave that to others. Just enjoy the commercial and watch the old lady lose it in the restaurant. She should have just shove it and let it go. hahaha. Sorry, couldn't resist.

98. I Like Ike - Presidential Campaign ad

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a wonderful blast from the past, from 1952 - the I Like Ike presidential campaign ad for Dwight D. Eisenhower, who served two terms (1953-1961) as President of the United States. This ad is a less than slick cartoon with some terrific caricatures. Ike was the 34th President and served as Supreme Commander for US troops on D-Day, the massive beach landing on the French coast that led to the end of World War II. He also served as head of NATO forces in 1951 before being aproached by Republican officials who urged him to run for President. During the Cold War, he worked hard to achieve peace during a time when the world was struggling with the terrors of Communism which were spreading fast and threatening democracies across the globe. He prosposed that the US and the Soviets exchange military information but was rebuffed. However meetings were held and the talks helped reduce tensions. Finally - we can also thank Ike for the US interstate highway system and the impact that had on our ability to travel as well as the positive economic consequences of increased interstate commerce. Yep - Dwight D. Eisenhower not only seemed like a decent fellow, I bet he was a good man too. The tone of this political ad from 50 years ago is in sharp contrast to the ads we suffer through today - and we hope that the people who make these ads gain some insight for future presidential campaign themes.

(Dean was killed in a terrible car wreck in his Porsche 550 Spyder, which was a convertible sports car. He had already received a ticket for speeding that same day!) I believe this was made for the California Highway Patrol - probably as part of a plea bargain to get out of another speeding ticket. Dean was killed by a fellow named Turnipseed - see the James Dean Story, a documentary on LikeTelevision, for more on the story.

115. Last Man on Earth, The

Description: The Last Man on Earth was origianlly released in Italy as L'Ultimo uomo della Terra, and later redubbed in English as The Last Man on Earth. Starring Vincent Price, this is a terrific movie from 1964 based on Richard Matheson's classic Sc-Fi novel, I am Legend. A deadly virus (actually a bacillus, a rod shaped bacterium - like Bacillus anthracis, a.k.a. Anthrax) destroys most of the human population, turning people into horrible vampire zombie creatures who feed off of human blood. Vincent Price is a scientist trying to stay alive. He searches for a cure, destroys the monsters, and finds himself as the last real man on Earth. This film clearly inspired George Romero who directed the classic - Night of the Living Dead. In addition, Matheson's I am Legend was also the inspiration for Omega Man, with Charleton Heston. There is also a rumor of a remake of this classic, but the original will be hard to beat. We loved this film, and bet you will too!

He got lost in the middle of the Egyptian desert during his tour of duty, and wakes up in the hospital with a pillow case over his head... I guess he got sunburned or something. Anyway, for no good reason, he starts drawing some wild hieroglyphics on a napkin and gives the artwork to a guy named Brimley (and while he looks like Wilfred Brimley on the Quaker Oats Commercials - it's a different guy)... who just happens to be an archeologist. Small world, huh? Well... it seems that Wollenski has the spirit of some old Pharoah in him, who wants to reveal the whereabouts of his missing tomb. 140. Outlaw, The

Description: Howard Hughes' production of The Outlaw is an interesting piece of film history for many reasons. While it was finished in 1940, it was dropped by 20th Century Fox due to critics' pans and the censors balking at Jane Russell's bulging cleavage. It seems Hughes Aircraft engineers even designed a special cantilevered bra to enhance Russell's attributes, long before her role in the Playtex cross your heart, lift and seperate bra Commercials. (the gun control lobby today would be throwing fits, as Russell was packing a pair of 38s). In addition, famed director Howard Hawks was fired during production by Hughes, as there was some animosity between Russell and Hawks, and at the time, Russell was Howard Hughes' girlfriend.
