1. 1960 Corvair TV Commercial

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a classic 1960 Chevy Corvair Infommercial - that seems to directly address Ralph Nader's objections in his book, Unsafe at Any Speed. If you do not know the history - the Chevy Corvair was a super cool car.... that got crushed because of concerns raised in Nader's book. For its day - the car was really no less safe than the rest of the lot, especially after the modifications to reduce rollovers. None of this mattered - the car was doomed commercially. Too bad - it was a really cool car.

One of the old timers helps a worn out rookie get some relief from acid indigestion. Coke Commercials Ahhhh. Alka Seltzer cures the upset stomach. 8. Are You Popular - Random's Cut

Description: LikeTelevision™ presents - another bizarre entry in a class of films we call - Funky Shorts. And oh my - this one surely is. Frank Random, LikeTelevision's creative caveman, put this one together, combining snippets of a 1948 US Government Health Film called - Are You Popular - and another decades old gem called - Co-Ed Secrets. Are You Popular is a How to film of dating do's and don'ts for teens - and Co-Ed Secrets is a creepy 1950's Frat House film. While there's no nudity, it is still quite disturbing, at least to this uptight midwesterner. So move over Sergei Eisenstein ... and check out the wonders of montage, Frank Random style. Caution - this might be disturbing to some viewers. Best for adults with a well-baked sense of irony.

Some other gals join in the crazy sock hop dance and you wonder why he is so jazzed about letting these gals dance on his car. And oh my - is he looking up her skirt - this is very strange content and we wondered who it was created for. We thought maybe it was for returning GIs or maybe a bizarre screen test for Hollywood, who knows.

11. Australian Girls give CPR

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents another bizarre short video clip. This one features a group of lovely Australian lifeguards in 1960s skimpy bathing suits performing mass CPR on an eager group of young men (ooops - I thought they were Swedish... but they are Australian). For whatever reason - this looks like some kind of funky kissing contest. The best moment however is when one of the Australian lifeguards blows her breath in, then looks aside and listens for breathing. The angle of the shot makes it appear that she is staring at young man's speedo. HA!

12. Ballet Mecanique

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents Fernand Leger's remarkable 1924 short film Ballet Mechanique. Fernand Leger was one of the greatest French Cubist painters (do a google image search of his name) and a contemporary of Pablo Picasso. In the early days of film as an artform, Leger created this masterpiece - which is landmark film in the development of montage, a cinematic tool that juxtiposes two or more images to infer related ideas or events. The best known example is Sergei Eisenstein's scene from Battleship Potemkin - the Odessa Steps segment with the baby carriage rolling down the steps and the mother's eyeglasses - made a year after this film.

24. Blood of a Poet - Jean Cocteau

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - Jean Cocteau's first film, Blood of a Poet, a bizarre avant garde classic featuring disturbing images of the artistic process. When the film initially debuted, a poster in the lobby offered a $25 reward to anyone if they could figure out the meaning of the film. As yet, this prize remains unclaimed. The question I have - is what happened to the money ($25)... or as the old saying goes, to find out what's really happening - follow the money.

26. Blue Women Art

Description: LikeTelevision is prud to present - another funky short. The weird little gem is called Blue Women Art. Long before Intel hired The Blue Man Group - heck, long before Intel even made their first integrated circuit - there was a bizarre Czech painter named Yves Klein. Klein was known for painting expressionist paintings - where naked women all slathered in blue paint, used other naked women also covered in blue paint, as living paint brushes. Meanwhile - a live symphony would play either some music - or ooooooo, how arty - a single monotone. ohmmmmm. Sounds like quite an evening, huh? Check out this short clip which shows one such event. Yes - it was Yves Klein who wrote the monotone symphony in 1949. It concisted of one note. Genius - well maybe not. I went to a site (yvesklein.de) that featured an mp3 of 1 minute of the opus solo notus - and it was really annoying.

27. Bosko in Baghdad

Bosko is a little black kid who is sent out to take some cookies to his grandma - when he meets an Arab frog who takes him on a magic carpet to a land where other frogs, who play jazz, want to steal his cookies. A very bizarre cartoon - and full of terrible racial stereotypes - offending blacks and Arabs. Our apologies - it is hard to believe this was made for kids. Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - Despotism. Here's a question for you - Despotism or Democracy? Which society do you live in? The film was originally created by Encyclopedia Britanica shortly after World War II (1945). We edited the original and trimmed down the total length to make it more enjoyable, and of course, more ironic - given the current world situation, with some oppressive regimes all over the place - and the potential for concern regarding the Patriot Act in the USA. As such - while the original content is quite dated - the metrics used to measure the freedom in a society, remain very valid. Check it out - i think you'll enjoy it.

Warren and the show host (Robert Ridgely) climb a tower and shoot their limit on the students below. Yikes! Warren Oates is especially proud of the beefy football letterman he bagged - must be a 280 pounder he boasts. Given all that has happened since this was created, the comedy is kind of creepy too.

77. Dubious Lampoonery - Truth in Advertising

The fifth clip in this 7 pack is called Truth in Advertising. The fist PSA is too funny - and yes, so true. The spoof on the laundry detergent Reality Testing was very funny - until she was dead in the dryer. Oh my! Royce D. Applegate is the Miracle White Announcer and Laura Fanny plays the unsuspecting laundry mat customer. The final comedy bit skewering the Is it Live or is it Memorex campaign is very disturbing on a lot of levels.

78. Dubious Lampoonery - Women's Products

79. Duck and Cover - Random's Re-Mix

Just duck and cover, yeah - that's the ticket. (We call this edited re-mix - Duck & Die). It has been too long since Stanley Kubrick's 1964 classic - Dr. Stranglove, or i learned to stop worrying and love the bomb - and so, if you find yourself all stressed out, we hope this funky short is the antidote to all your nuclear winters.

Wow - that kind of stuff seems like status quo today. This episode is more humorous than scary, you will enjoy the dialogue. Glen Gordon plays the diabolical Dr. Fu Manchu - a non Asian actor who does his level best to be Chinese. He delivers his lines in classic fashion, carefully choosing his phrases with very slow delivery as if he were some ancient Chinese Kung Fu master. Do your best to keep from laughing out loud - but you will fail, because it really is just too funny.

99. Good for the Goose

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - Good for the Goose, a short video clip of some women from Strausberg who are using a grinder to force feed some geese. Why you ask - well to make better Pate de Fois Gras of course. For those who are, shall we tres gauche - pate de fois gras is Goose liver pate, which sounds pretty gross, but is actually quite delicious. Anyway - I am sure the folks from P.E.T.A. (people for the ethical treatment of animals) are outraged by my lack of outrage, but i love pate de fois gras.... and escargot too. I think the snails are treated more ethically than say, live Maine lobsters - but I digress.

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a classic Heinz Pickle TV Commercial. Many years before the memorable Heinz slow ketchup commercials, they offered these ads for their pickles. This one features a lady who goes whacko when she gets a soggy pickle at a fine restaurant. While it would be easy to put in some kind of snappy presidential campaign comments between John Kerry (married to Teresa Heinz Kerry) vs. George Bush - i will leave that to others. Just enjoy the commercial and watch the old lady lose it in the restaurant. She should have just shove it and let it go. hahaha. Sorry, couldn't resist.

109. I Like Ike - Presidential Campaign ad

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a wonderful blast from the past, from 1952 - the I Like Ike presidential campaign ad for Dwight D. Eisenhower, who served two terms (1953-1961) as President of the United States. This ad is a less than slick cartoon with some terrific caricatures. Ike was the 34th President and served as Supreme Commander for US troops on D-Day, the massive beach landing on the French coast that led to the end of World War II. He also served as head of NATO forces in 1951 before being aproached by Republican officials who urged him to run for President. During the Cold War, he worked hard to achieve peace during a time when the world was struggling with the terrors of Communism which were spreading fast and threatening democracies across the globe. He prosposed that the US and the Soviets exchange military information but was rebuffed. However meetings were held and the talks helped reduce tensions. Finally - we can also thank Ike for the US interstate highway system and the impact that had on our ability to travel as well as the positive economic consequences of increased interstate commerce. Yep - Dwight D. Eisenhower not only seemed like a decent fellow, I bet he was a good man too. The tone of this political ad from 50 years ago is in sharp contrast to the ads we suffer through today - and we hope that the people who make these ads gain some insight for future presidential campaign themes.

The LikeTelevision™ Classic TV channel proudly presents a snippet from Zim Zum - Mullet Hunter! Zim Zum is a musical comedy variety show that we created in the summer of 2000. (for those who don't know... a mullet is a haircut worthy of derision.... short on the top and sides... and long in the back).

156. Mystery Date by Milton Bradley

Description: Mystery Date - the thrilling game of Romance and Adventure from Milton Bradley. Made just for girls - you could end up with some suave dude in a white dinner jacket or God forbid - the plumber! hilarious - and a classic cult theme song takes it over the top.

157. NASA Flight Without Wings

Description: LikeTelevision™ is proud to present a NASA film called Flight Without Wings. This short from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration covers a really weird test aircraft that kind of looks like a rocket nose. First - they test a plywood mock-up that is towed, and in another segment - a more developed aircraft goes in for a landing. Safe, but quite a thud. Pretty cool video.

158. NASA Space Program (1965)

Description: LikeTelevision™ is proud to present - NASA Space Program (1965). This short film tries to explain where all the money went - and from what i am hearing, whatever they spent for all this hardware was well worth it. Check out a fascinating section on weather satellites for meterology or for the D.O.D. If you love big clunky vacuum tube devices - you'll be in heaven. Pretty cool video, that gets better with time.

159. NASA X-15

Description: LikeTelevision™ is proud to present - NASA Space film called X-15 Aloft. The X-15 was a wildly fast aircraft with a rocket designed to burn for about 85 seconds. It could reach speeds of 4,000 mph - which made the pilot weightless, pulling about 4 Gs. Whoa! Very cool video clip of a nice piece of hardware.

160. New Age Japanese Aerobics

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents another bizarre short video clip. This little gem shows an old Japanese gym of shorts - where the corporate boys from Tokyo go to blow off some steam and shake things up. You will see all kinds of whacky vibrating and shaking machines that only a real mover and shaker might enjoy. Also - a terrific shot of a guy with a beautiful and colorful full body tattoo in one of these vibrating contraptions. It looks like the tattoo is talking to you. The fellow on the pedal bike is a riot too.

161. New Country Cornflakes TV Commercial

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a classic General Mills TV Commercial for New Country Cornflakes. New Country - like Shania Twain you ask? No. This is not Kelloggs Corn Flakes...The Battle Creek company, this is a cereal from General Mils. The commerical features a snappy jingle (that kinda sounds like New Country - HA!) and a goof on the classic painting American Gothic by Grant Wood - that features the farmer and his wife hooting and dancing for their breakfast cereal. A funny classic commercial.

162. Noxzema Comfort Shave TV Commercial

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a classic Noxzema TV Commercial for their shaving cream - Noxzema medicated comfort shave. This commercial is very memorable and features a sexy Scandinavian girl who urges her man - to take it off. Take it all off. The closer you get... the more you need Noxzema - Noxzema medicated comfort shave.

163. Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. This film by Robert Enrico is adapted from the story written by Ambrose Bierce. The short film does an excellent job of telling this great tale, about a man accused of trying to sabotage a bridge during the civil war. As the story begins, the man is about to be executed - by hanging from Owl Creek Bridge. We enter the man's mind, as he imagines that the rope breaks - and he narrowly escapes the onslaught of bullets from the Union soldiers. Then he runs through an arched forest canopy - trying to return to his wife and child, who are waiting for him at his home. Most of the story takes place, during that brief few seconds, as he falls from his gallows - to the moment when his neck snaps. An incredible journey of mind.... look out, there's a sign post up ahead! Yep, this short film was also an episode of The Twilight Zone, with Rod Serling. I believe it was the only episode that was not produced by the great writing team that made the show. As a Twilight Zone, it aired Feb. 28, 1964 - episode 142.

165. Oldsmobile Classic TV Commercial

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a classic car commercial - featuring the very catchy jingle - Come with me Lucille in my merry oldsmobile. This tv commercial is also a cartoon, animated by the greats at Fleischer Brothers studio, the same fellows who brought us Popeye, Betty Boop and Superman in the early days. The commercial is a long form presentation - probably initially released in theaters to play before the main feature. Parts of it are quite cheeky - especially for the day. There's a peeping tom character, and this line - you can go as far as you like with me, in my merry oldsmobile. Somehow i am not sure how one would measure mileage - ha!

168. Playmates

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - Playmates, no not Playboy Playmates or cover girls, these Playmates are just looking to dance around the May Pole in a wacky non-fertility frolic. You get to see some silky bloomers of the day - which were baggy women's underwear with lots of frilly lace. The guy in the film is pretty effeminate and one wonders what kind of homoerotic producer financed this short film - this is very strange content and we wondered who it was created for. We thought maybe it was for returning GIs or maybe a bizarre screen test for Hollywood, who knows.

Wow - that kind of stuff seems like status quo today. This episode is more humorous than scary, you will enjoy the intense arguments - about peace.

The music swells and the jingle begins like this:
Hey, have you heard the crazy new way.
To send a message today
It flashed on a screen to quick to see
But still you get it subliminally. YIKES! I am not sure if this ad is more disturbing than Pat Boone's rendition of Little Richard's Tuti Fruiti - but the fact that i am comparing the two events should give you an idea of why this classic tv commercial is such a gem.
