1. 1960 Corvair TV Commercial

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a classic 1960 Chevy Corvair Infommercial - that seems to directly address Ralph Nader's objections in his book, Unsafe at Any Speed. If you do not know the history - the Chevy Corvair was a super cool car.... that got crushed because of concerns raised in Nader's book. For its day - the car was really no less safe than the rest of the lot, especially after the modifications to reduce rollovers. None of this mattered - the car was doomed commercially. Too bad - it was a really cool car.

2. A-Lad-in-Bagdad

Description: The LikeTelevision™ Cartoon channel proudly presents A-Lad-in-Bagdad, get it.... like Aladdin... and his magic lamp. This cartoon is very overtly racist - as the Black Genie is an ugly stereotype - and of course the villain, the evil Arab character, appears to be an early member of Al Queda, working for the notorious Osama Bin Laden. This funky cartoon features that egghead guy as Aladdin, who wins the lamp in one of those midway crane games -see the great gum grabber in the toy section if you are confused. Well, the Sultan plans an entertainment contest to see who gets to marry his daughter. And it appears he is smoking a houka, you know..... a water pipe, like in the Jefferson airplane song, White Rabbit, which featured the houka smoking catepillar. Got it? BTW - we know that Bagdad is really spelled Baghdad.... ummm, I think it is anyway. It is hard to believe this was made for children, huh? Our apologies - we present it as a piece of history.

Are You Popular is a How to film of dating do's and don'ts for teens - and Co-Ed Secrets is a creepy 1950's Frat House film. While there's no nudity, it is still quite disturbing, at least to this uptight midwesterner. So move over Sergei Eisenstein ... and check out the wonders of montage, Frank Random style. 30. Attack of the Giant Leeches, The

For whatever reason - this looks like some kind of funky kissing contest. The best moment however is when one of the Australian lifeguards blows her breath in, then looks aside and listens for breathing. The angle of the shot makes it appear that she is staring at young man's speedo. HA!

33. Bad Taste

Description: The LikeTelevision™ movie channel presents a delightful horror classic from 1987 called Bad Taste, produced and directed by Peter Jackson, best known for his work on the JRR Tolkien movies, including the Lord of the Rings series and if fans get their wish, The Hobbit (though that looks bleak now). Well, long before Peter Jackson was a big cheese in film, he made this film with his school buddies over a four year period about a group of secret government agents in charge of keeping the world safe from invading aliens from distant galaxies. The budget for the film was next to nothing though it was a step up from a bunch of his previous efforts shot on 8mm film. Peter finally got a decent camera, a hand wound 16mm Bolex that was used for this movie and a little bit of money from a grant that helped him create more elaborate special effects.Bad Taste is an amazing movie - you can see the genius of Peter Jackson on display even as a young lad. He not only directed and produced this film, he even stars as young Derek, the courageous geek leader of the Alien Protection Squad who has to keep repacking his brains that have partially fallen out of his head.

34. Ballet Mecanique

When the film initially debuted, a poster in the lobby offered a $25 reward to anyone if they could figure out the meaning of the film. As yet, this prize remains unclaimed. The question I have - is what happened to the money ($25)... or as the old saying goes, to find out what's really happening - follow the money.

62. Blue Women Art

Description: LikeTelevision is prud to present - another funky short. The weird little gem is called Blue Women Art. Long before Intel hired The Blue Man Group - heck, long before Intel even made their first integrated circuit - there was a bizarre Czech painter named Yves Klein. Klein was known for painting expressionist paintings - where naked women all slathered in blue paint, used other naked women also covered in blue paint, as living paint brushes. Meanwhile - a live symphony would play either some music - or ooooooo, how arty - a single monotone. ohmmmmm. Sounds like quite an evening, huh? Check out this short clip which shows one such event. Yes - it was Yves Klein who wrote the monotone symphony in 1949. It concisted of one note. Genius - well maybe not. I went to a site (yvesklein.de) that featured an mp3 of 1 minute of the opus solo notus - and it was really annoying.

63. Born to Win

Description: LikeTelevision's Classic Movie channel is proud to present - Born to Win is a 1971 film about a junkie named J.J. - played by George Segal who tries to turn his tragic life around. Ironically, George Segal currently stars in a hit tv show - called Just Shoot Me, ... but I digress... J.J. is a classic urban druggie loser with a tattoo - Born to Win, hence the title. He tries to make one last score with his girlfriend Parm, played by Karen Black. The film also stars Robert DeNiro as an undercover cop, Paula Prentiss as Veronica, J.J.'s ex wife - who is also a junkie, Hector Elizondo as the dealer, Vivian, and Burt Young, as muscle for the criminal element. Burt Young is best known as Adrian's (played by Talia Shire) brother Paulie in the Rocky movies with Sylvester Stallone as the gritty boxer, Rocky Balboa, from Philadelphia.

As the little Clock's learn - there's few things more dangerous than a curious little boy.

65. Bosko in Baghdad

Description: The LikeTelevision™ Cartoon channel proudly presents L'il 'ol Bosko in Bagdad (it really spelled Baghdad, I know). Bosko is a little black kid who is sent out to take some cookies to his grandma - when he meets an Arab frog who takes him on a magic carpet to a land where other frogs, who play jazz, want to steal his cookies. A very bizarre cartoon - and full of terrible racial stereotypes - offending blacks and Arabs. Our apologies - it is hard to believe this was made for kids. The animation is superb - it even has a frog version of Stepin' Fetchit!

66. Boudu Saved From Drowning

Description: The LikeTelevision™ movie channel proudly presents an enchanting 1932 Jean Renoir film called Boudu sauve des eaux, or in English - Boudu Saved from Drowning. A poor homeless man named Boudu tries to drown himself in the Seine River, but is saved by the wealthy book store owner, Edouard Lestingois who was watching Boudu from his window. Boudu moves in with the family and has quite an impact on each of their lives. Priape Boudu is played by Michel Simon, who was a major star in France. Basically - he was like the French Charlie Chaplin or Jerry Lewis. Kind of like a national treasure. Also of note, this film caused a major scandal when it was released. Not because of the kissing or extramarital affairs (hey, they're French)... but people took major exception to, of all things - the filthy side of being homeless. Boudu's table manners, especially eating the food with his fingers. Totally taboo! The Police came and shut down theaters. It was a very serious matter at the time. In addition, Boudu doesn't seem particularly grateful to Monsieur Lestingois' generosity. Folks were infuriated by this as well.

67. Boy and His Dog

Description: The LikeTelevision™ Movie channel proudly presents - A boy and his Dog - featuring Don Johnson as Vic (a.k.a. Albert), Susanne Benton, and Jason Robards. The movie is based on a Harlan Ellison novel and is set in 2024 AD after WWIV - which lasted 5 days..

68. Boy in the Plastic Bubble, The

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a cult classic made for tv movie called The Boy in the Plastic Bubble starring John Travolta, Robert Reed, Diane Hyland, and Glynnis O'Connor. Travolta stars as Tod Lubitch, a real kid with a huge problem with his immune system, so he has to live in the plastic bubble. While most folks remember the imfamous Jerry Seinfeld episode with the kid in the plastic bubble (a.k.a. Bubble Boy), few have seen this mildly annoying sugar coated California treat. The film is filled with star power - with Robert Reed, best known as Mike Brady from the Brady Bunch as the Dad, Ralph Bellamy as the Immunologist, and Diana Hyland as the mother. As you might already know - she was John Travolta's lover at the time (she was 41, Travolta about 23). She died on March 27, 1977 in Travolta's arms after suffering through breast cancer. Diana Hyland was also the original mom and tv show wife of Dick Van Patten on the show Eight is Enough. Glen Gordon plays the diabolical Dr. Fu Manchu - a non Asian actor who does his level to be Chinese. 123. Despotism or Democracy?

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - Despotism. Here's a question for you - Despotism or Democracy? Which society do you live in? The film was originally created by Encyclopedia Britanica shortly after World War II (1945). We edited the original and trimmed down the total length to make it more enjoyable, and of course, more ironic - given the current world situation, with some oppressive regimes all over the place - and the potential for concern regarding the Patriot Act in the USA. As such - while the original content is quite dated - the metrics used to measure the freedom in a society, remain very valid. Check it out - i think you'll enjoy it.

The war room drama features Dick O'Neil as General Andrews, and Basil Hoffman as a Presidential Advisor, Larry Gelman as Reliff Guy - that is how he spells Relief. I learned it was spelled ROLAIDS. That's what they told me on tv anyway. We ask that everyone of all religions or countries - to please relax. The sentiments echoed in these clips do not mirror our own. The movie originally aired as a made for TV movie in 1971 at the height of Evel Knievel's fame. While George Hamilton is an unlikely actor to play Evel, he does a decent job. And Sue Lyon, best known for her role as Lolita, the 16 year old vamp in Stanley Kubrick's classic take on the Vladmir Nabikoff novel - does a great job as Linda Knievel, wife and soulmate of the daredevil motorcycle hero. Much of the movie is filmed in Butte, Montana where Evel Knievel was born. Best of all - the film features some terrific archive footage of Evel Knievel, even the famed jump at Caesar's Palace, December 31, 1967 - which is one of the most spectacular wipeouts in his illustrious career as a daredevil motorcycle showman.

The movie morphed into a short-lived TV series of the same name and Teresa Graves was the first black woman on TV to star in an hour long show. By today's hypercritical PC insanity - this movie could be viewed as racist. There are some stereotyping incidents and other things that will make you roll your eyes - and yes - they use the N word. At the same time - Christie Love is a heroine - and a tough, karate kicking Mamma Jamma. The TV show played opposite another classic female cop drama - Police Woman, starring Angie Dickinson. Lots of channel flipping times, yes they were.

Wow - that kind of stuff seems like status quo today. This episode is more humorous than scary, you will enjoy the dialogue. Glen Gordon plays the diabolical Dr. Fu Manchu - a non Asian actor who does his level best to be Chinese. He delivers his lines in classic fashion, carefully choosing his phrases with very slow delivery as if he were some ancient Chinese Kung Fu master. Do your best to keep from laughing out loud - but you will fail, because it really is just too funny.

176. Good for the Goose

Why you ask - well to make better Pate de Fois Gras of course. For those who are, shall we tres gauche - pate de fois gras is Goose liver pate, which sounds pretty gross, but is actually quite delicious. Anyway - I am sure the folks from P.E.T.A. (people for the ethical treatment of animals) are outraged by my lack of outrage, but i love pate de fois gras.... and escargot too. I think the snails are treated more ethically than say, live Maine lobsters - but I digress.

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a classic Heinz Pickle TV Commercial. Many years before the memorable Heinz slow ketchup commercials, they offered these ads for their pickles. This one features a lady who goes whacko when she gets a soggy pickle at a fine restaurant. While it would be easy to put in some kind of snappy presidential campaign comments between John Kerry (married to Teresa Heinz Kerry) vs. George Bush - i will leave that to others. Just enjoy the commercial and watch the old lady lose it in the restaurant. She should have just shove it and let it go. hahaha. Sorry, couldn't resist.

Well guess what - Venetia Stevenson is Don Everly's ex-wife, like Phil & Don, Bye, Bye Love and Wake Up Little Susie. But wait - Don and Venetia's daughter married Axel Rose of Guns 'n Roses, so that makes her Axel's ex mother-in-law. (they got divorced). But I digress - Horror Hotel is a really creepy movie that is also funny at times because the acting is - shall we say - stiff.

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a cult classic made for tv movie called How Awful About Allan starring Anthony Perkins, Julie Harris, and Joan Hackett. This made for tv movie was released in 1970 and is based on a story by Henry Farrell, who also wrote another terrific pyscho drama called Whatever Happened to Baby Jane (starring Bette Davis and Joan Crawford). As expected, Anthony Perkins plays the torrmented Allan, who just got released from the psycho ward and is going home even though the doctors are not sure he is fully well. It seems there was a tragic accident involving Allan's dad who dies in a fire that scars his sister Katherine (Julie Harris) and leaves Allan blinded. As with all good pyschological thrilers - there are lots of unexpected turns to the story.

197. Hunky and Spunky - Barnyard Brat, The

Description: The LikeTelevision™ Cartoon channel proudly presents - Hysterical History, a classic toon from that pokes fun at some characters from history, including Columbus, Ben Franklin flying a kite with his key, a plump Pocahontas that bears little resemblence to the young Indian lass from the recent Disney production. Plus - oh...I am a Yankee doodle dandy... sing-a-long to the bouncing ball number.

199. I Like Ike - Presidential Campaign ad

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a wonderful blast from the past, from 1952 - the I Like Ike presidential campaign ad for Dwight D. Eisenhower, who served two terms (1953-1961) as President of the United States. This ad is a less than slick cartoon with some terrific caricatures. Ike was the 34th President and served as Supreme Commander for US troops on D-Day, the massive beach landing on the French coast that led to the end of World War II. He also served as head of NATO forces in 1951 before being aproached by Republican officials who urged him to run for President. During the Cold War, he worked hard to achieve peace during a time when the world was struggling with the terrors of Communism which were spreading fast and threatening democracies across the globe. He prosposed that the US and the Soviets exchange military information but was rebuffed. However meetings were held and the talks helped reduce tensions. Finally - we can also thank Ike for the US interstate highway system and the impact that had on our ability to travel as well as the positive economic consequences of increased interstate commerce. Yep - Dwight D. Eisenhower not only seemed like a decent fellow, I bet he was a good man too. The tone of this political ad from 50 years ago is in sharp contrast to the ads we suffer through today - and we hope that the people who make these ads gain some insight for future presidential campaign themes.

A fun movie that appears to be based on the life of American novelist, F. Scott Fitzgerald, who wrote a bunch of terrific short stories (Diamond as Big as the Ritz is a personal favorite) but is best known for writing The Great Gatsby. The film is a loose adaptation of his time spent in Paris as a shallow rich guy searching for some meaning in his life. What were we thinking? This clip features Jim Stafrani, an early user of LikeTelevision declaring that LikeTelevision is the first smoke free web site - EVER! He appears serious, though it is unclear what he is doing to the saxophone player sculpture with his wandering fingers. For an opposing view - we turn to the insanity of Zim Zum's producer, Frank Random - who had some fun with the audio from a Bill Hicks comedy routine - mixed with an old promo featuring James Arness having a drink and a smoke, and wearing boxer shorts instead of pants. Wow.. so ahead of his time. The clip ends with Dodge Benson lamenting about how he won't be able to make the payments on his cadillac now that he has been fired as host when the show was cancelled. Plus... a few beers later - he appears more honest about how he really feels about it.

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge. This film by Robert Enrico is adapted from the story written by Ambrose Bierce. The short film does an excellent job of telling this great tale, about a man accused of trying to sabotage a bridge during the civil war. We enter the man's mind, as he imagines that the rope breaks - and he narrowly escapes the onslaught of bullets from the Union soldiers. Then he runs through an arched forest canopy - trying to return to his wife and child, who are waiting for him at his home. Most of the story takes place, during that brief few seconds, as he falls from his gallows - to the moment when his neck snaps. An incredible journey of mind.... look out, there's a sign post up ahead! Yep, this short film was also an episode of The Twilight Zone, with Rod Serling. I believe it was the only episode that was not produced by the great writing team that made the show. As a Twilight Zone, it aired Feb. 28, 1964 - episode 142.

You get to see some silky bloomers of the day - which were baggy women's underwear with lots of frilly lace. The guy in the film is pretty effeminate and one wonders what kind of homoerotic producer financed this short film - this is very strange content and we wondered who it was created for. We thought maybe it was for returning GIs or maybe a bizarre screen test for Hollywood, who knows.

Glen Gordon plays the diabolical Dr. Fu Manchu - a non Asian actor who does his level best to be Chinese.
