The film takes place in the maternity ward of a hospital and explores the powerful emotions of childbirth. Three pregnant women are the stars - each at a different stage of being pregnant and also in very different relationships with the men who fathered the babies. 18. Carnival of Souls

The 1962 film was directed by Herk Harvey and remains one of the greatest low budget movies ever made. It is scary, not because of a lot of blood and guts or anything gross - but the whole ethereal feel of the film is just plain creepy. Who the heck is the phantom guy, and why does he keep popping in to scare Mary? The ending is just excellent - sorry, no spoilers here..

Yes - obviously before the days of sports drinks like Gatorade and other special drinks that claimed to return body fluids after sweating. Well... back in the day - I assure you, a nice cold coca cola really hit the spot after a sweaty game of flag football. You can have your electrolytes - just give me an ice cold coke in the classic glass bottle.

24. Coney Island - Back in the Day

Description: LikeTelevision™ presents - Coney Island - Back in the Day, a fond glimpse into the past during the glory days of Coney Island. Carnival rides, Coney Island hot dogs, a carnival barker peddles the freak show and a glimpse of Schlitze the pinhead, which was a birth defect called microcephaly. Loads of fun - from back in the day when you could enjoy these types of rides. I regret, in today's litigious society, these attractions are no longer allowed or economically feasible.

25. Creepers

Description: The LikeTelevision™ movie channel presents a delightful Dario Argento horror classic from 1985 called Phenomena, or Creepers - which was the name of the USA release. Jennifer Connelly stars as a young American school girl (she was 15 when she made the movie) named Jennifer Corvino, who is the daughter of a famous actor and off in Switzerland attending the Richard Wagner School for Girls. But oh my, not all is well at the school - there's a psychopathic killer on the loose. Weirder still, Jennifer Connelly has a knack for telepathically communicating with insects. She does a great job of protecting herself by using this gift and getting the insects to get the bad guy instead of her. The story is filled with countless twists and turns - and I bet you won't know who the killer is till part 6, and boy what a surprise that is! Filled with lots of bloody FX and folks, this one is creepy, scary and just plain - out there. Imagine Buffalo Bill meets Mommie Dearest Meets Chuckie. Say no more.

26. Cyrano de Bergerac w/ Jose Ferrer

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - Cyrano de Bergerac, starring Jose Ferrer as Cyrano in the screen adaptation of Edmond Rostand's classic play. Jose Ferrer is nothing short of brilliant in his portrayal as the Cyrano - a gifted poet, wordsmith, swordsman, and a man with a beautiful and tender heart. But with all these gifts - he was also given a monster sized nose, that reminds one of the proboscis monkey - it is huge and hideous, a perfect foil for the lavish gifts he has been given. Cyrano loves a beautiful woman named Roxane, who happens to be a distant cousin, but he is afraid to tell her how he feels about her, because he is afraid of rejection.

27. Despotism or Democracy?

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - Despotism. Here's a question for you - Despotism or Democracy? Which society do you live in? The film was originally created by Encyclopedia Britanica shortly after World War II (1945). We edited the original and trimmed down the total length to make it more enjoyable, and of course, more ironic - given the current world situation, with some oppressive regimes all over the place - and the potential for concern regarding the Patriot Act in the USA. As such - while the original content is quite dated - the metrics used to measure the freedom in a society, remain very valid. Check it out - i think you'll enjoy it.

28. Diaboliques, Les

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents -Diabolique, directed by Henri-Georges Clouzo. This 1955 film remains one of the greatest murder mystery, suspense thrillers ever created. It won a special Edgar award in 1956 as well as honors for Best Foreign Film from the New York Critics Circle in 1955. Simone Signoret's performance is nothing short of amazing. My favorite comment on the movie - it is the greatest movie Hitchcock never made - and one can easily see the Sir Alfred style of suspense at work and perhaps Hitchcock got a few good ideas from this film as well.

29. Dragnet - Big Seventeen, The

Description: The LikeTelevision™ classic TV channel presents another terrific episode of Dragnet, starring our favorite TV cop, Jack Webb as Sgt. Joe Friday. In this episode - The Big Seventeen - Joe is working hard to find a 17 year old kid who has a stolen a bunch of high grade heroin. If he starts selling it to other kids - Joe fears a lot of kids will overdose on the uncut drugs. But - the police are too late, and the kid who stole the drugs dies of a drug overdose. Overall, a terrific Dragnet episode - also features an interesting part where the kids went crazy and trashed the movie theater. And the owner turns over a little box filled with drugs to Joe. What's in the box? Two joints of marijuana. Is that what I think it is. I am not wrong am I?? Joe responds - no sir, no mistake, it marijuana.

30. Forbidden Games (Jeux Interdits)

Description: The LikeTelevision™ movie channel presents a terrific 1952 classic called Jeux interdits, which roughly translates into Forbidden Games, the English title. The movie is set in France at the start of World War II. Brigitte Fossey plays the young Paulette, a 5 year old orphan who loses her parents as the family flees from the Nazis who are attacking Paris. They get killed by a Messerschmitt that strafes a bridge filled with civilians. Paulette get adopted by a sweet peasant family, the Dolles and she becomes good friends with their young boy about 7 or 8 named Michel Dolle (Georges Poujouly). The film tells an amazing story of the war as seen through the eyes of some beautiful children who are paying a dear price for the troubles of the world. We highly recommend this movie. Two thumbs up.

31. Get Christie Love

Description: Get Christie Love - a 1970s funky action drama about a kick butt police woman, played by Teresa Graves is a classic, and has a spot in the history of movies. The movie morphed into a short-lived TV series of the same name and Teresa Graves was the first black woman on TV to star in an hour long show. By today's hypercritical PC insanity - this movie could be viewed as racist. There are some stereotyping incidents and other things that will make you roll your eyes - and yes - they use the N word. At the same time - Christie Love is a heroine - and a tough, karate kicking Mamma Jamma. The TV show played opposite another classic female cop drama - Police Woman, starring Angie Dickinson. Lots of channel flipping times, yes they were.

32. Golden God of Dr. Fu Manchu, The

Description: The LikeTelevision™ classic tv channel proudly presents The Adventures of Dr. Fu Manchu - this episode titled The Golden God of Dr. Fu Manchu. The evil Doctor Fu Manchu is once again planning to take over the world, and his plan involves murder, while stealing a ton of gold. Then - cause global chaos as markets collapse. Wow - that kind of stuff seems like status quo today. This episode is more humorous than scary, you will enjoy the dialogue. Glen Gordon plays the diabolical Dr. Fu Manchu - a non Asian actor who does his level best to be Chinese. He delivers his lines in classic fashion, carefully choosing his phrases with very slow delivery as if he were some ancient Chinese Kung Fu master. Do your best to keep from laughing out loud - but you will fail, because it really is just too funny.

35. Heinz Pickles TV Commercial

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - a classic Heinz Pickle TV Commercial. Many years before the memorable Heinz slow ketchup commercials, they offered these ads for their pickles. This one features a lady who goes whacko when she gets a soggy pickle at a fine restaurant. While it would be easy to put in some kind of snappy presidential campaign comments between John Kerry (married to Teresa Heinz Kerry) vs. George Bush - i will leave that to others. Just enjoy the commercial and watch the old lady lose it in the restaurant. She should have just shove it and let it go. hahaha. Sorry, couldn't resist.

41. Live at LikeTelevision™ - Terry Garland

Description: The LikeTelevision™ music channel is proud to present Terry Garlnd Live at LikeTelevision™. February 15,2007 was Terry's second time to play in our studios - the first was way back in 1998. Terry plays a mean National style o and a wicked Gibson L-0 (i think that's what is was anyway). For a slide - it looked like he was mostly using a spark plug socket wrench. If you like Delta Blues old school style, one guy pumping out a full band sound - you're going to love Terry Garland. This first song is called Without You and is features on Whistling in the Dark CD. I love the cool section where Terry played some rhythm guitar, sampled it and looped in back in so he could put a little wahine type slide lead over the top. Very cool indeed. I'm so blue... without you.

55. Pajama Game

Description: The Pajama Game became the first in a string of smash hits for visionary choreographer Bob Fosse soon after it opened on Broadway in May of 1954. The play opened to rave reviews and was performed well over 1000 times. So when it came time to re-purpose it for the silver screen, Warner Bros. decided to basically lift the entire production from the stage at the St. James Theater and transport it to the sound stage in Hollywood. The female lead was changed from Janis Paige to Doris Day for box-office reasons and a couple of minor roles were switched out but, all-in-all what we see in the film is a faithful replication of the original Broadway production and a level of ensemble seldom seen on film. If you can stop being soooo sophisticated and are ready, willing and able to dispend reality for a little while, you will really enjoy this wonderful piece of period fluff.

Description: The LikeTelevision™ movie channel proudly presents - The Phantom of the Opera. This early silent film made in 1925 stars Lon Chaney as the Phantom, also known as Eric who is a musical genius, but alas - butt ugly. Unlike the 1962 version with Herbert Lom, we do not get any background as to what happened to Erik - that made him so disfigured. (In the 1962 version - he is burned in a fire by some chemicals as he tries to retrieve his stolen music from a shady publisher.) This is the first film version of the Gaston Leroux novel, so please don't expect anyone will break into song. This is not the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical version released in 2004. Directed by Rupert Julian with Mary Philbin as Christine Daae (no relation to Regis), and Norman Kerry as Vicomte Raoul de Chagny, Christine's boyfriend. Kerry also stars as the swashbuckling hero of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.

We hear four separate accounts of the crime and each is quite different than the other versions. The film explores perception and reality. We learn about the TRUTH, a painful truth, that indeed we all tell lies, even to ourselves. If you have read any Existential works by Jean Paul Satre, Soren Kierkegaard, or Martin Heidegger - this film will really get you thinking about man's search for TRUTH.

68. Rules of the Game, The

Description: Jean Renoir's Rules of the Game is one of the greatest films ever made. As you might already know, Jean Renoir was the son of the remarkable impressionist painter, Auguste Renoir - whose paintings are so beautiful and glorious that they are actually worth the millions that they sell for today. This film is perhaps Jean Renoir's finest work, though some might prefer his other masterpiece, La Grande Illusion, also available on this site. Unlike Grande Illusion that is a heavy film about the tragic ironies of war, this film is hilarious satire about the fading French aristocracy and a wonderful portrayal of the human comedy of love, marriage, and relationships.

Based on the classic literary work by Baroness Orczy - the movie is delightful screen adaptation of the story of Sir Percy Blakeney, a foppish fool in the English aristocracy who is secretly a courageous hero that saves some French aristocrats from Reign of Terror. 73. Throne of Blood

Description: Classic Kurosawa tale of ambition, power, and fate. Two Samurai warriors (Washiza and Miki) encounter an evil spirit in the Cobweb Forest who sees the future. She tells them of their rise to power and how ambition will guide their actions. The film draws from Shakespeare's Macbeth - but the setting is feudal Japan. Like Lady Macbeth, Washiza's wife has a difficult time washing that darn blood off her hands.

Starring Toshir? Mifune as Washiza, the trusted Samurai hero and protector of a group of powerful leaders who control the Cobweb Castle, and several other forts and castles An evil spirit's prophesy guides his actions and he kills the top Lord and usurps his power - only to be replaced by equally ambitious men.

Set in Feudal Japan - Two Samurai heros turn on their Lords and gain power. Did you know that Kurosawa films like this created the inspiration for films like The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly (Yojimbo) and Star Wars (Hidden Fortress) Watch this clip for more Kurosawa background info!

74. To Kill A Mockingbird

Description: To Kill A Mockingbird is a classic American film, based on Harper Lee's novel, Horton Foote's screenplay is amazing - and Gregory Peck's performance as Atticus Finch was nothing short of stunning. The story is told through the eyes of Jean Louise Finch, Scout to her friends, as she recalls this tumultuous period many years later. Mary Badham's performance as Scout is flawless. She was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role but lost to Patty Duke for her role as Helen Keller in The Miracle Worker. Had she won, she would have been the youngest person to win this award. 1962 was one of the best years in the history of film. I am convinced this film would have won best picture - but it happened to come out the same year as David Lean's masterpiece, Lawrence of Arabia, with Peter O'Toole. How good was 1962 you ask? On top of those two epic films - you had Mutiny on the Bounty. The Miracle Worker, Days of Wine and Roses, What Ever Happened to Baby Jane, Billy Budd, The Music Man, Birdman of Alcatraz. The Manchurian Candidate, and The Longest Day. Come on Hollywood... get to work and give us another 1962!

77. Wheels on Meals w/ Jackie Chan

The film originally released as Kwai Tsan Ttseh was made in 1984 and stars Jackie Chan and Biao Yuen as street vendors who come to the rescue of a beautiful woman named Sylvia, played by Lola Fomer. As with most Jackie Chan movies, there's lots of great martial arts, comedy and bascially good clean fun.

78. Wild Ride, The

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - The Wild Ride starring Jack Nicholson as the tough street punk, Johnny Varron. Wow - what a treat, Jack Nicholson in his second movie, circa 1960 (his debut was the Cry Baby Killer in 1958) as the alpha male in a gang of tough kids who are into racing cars. Johnny is their leader and hero who makes all the decisions for the group. For instance - Dave (Robert Bean) has a new girlfriend, and she is lame (like from the good side of the tracks) so Johnny tells Dave to lose the chick (Nancy, played by Georgiana Carter). Dave doesn't want to give up his girlfriend, so Johnny decides to move in. Of course all this ends in trouble with a capital T, as Johnny ends up killing a motorcycle cop and an extended stay at the jailhouse.

79. Woody Allen Comedy Special

Description: LikeTelevision™ proudly presents - The Woody Allen Special from September 21, 1969 - which was part of TV series called The Kraft Music Hall. (the guest for this episode was the 5th Dimension, featuring the Laura Nyro song Wedding Bell Blues with Marilyn McCoo in top form and Working on a Groovy Thing - AWESOME. Wedding Bell Blues was released in October 1969 shortly after this special and stayed in the Top 40 for 14 weeks). Candace Bergen, best known for her role as Murphy Brown is Woody's special guest. And - oh my - what a treat - Reverend Billy Graham has a terrific interview with Woody Allen as they discuss God, sex and seeing each other's show. Billy says he'll go see Play it Again Sam if Woody goes to one of Billy Graham's revivals. It's an amazing bit of television history -and fascinatin given the events that followed the era of the sexual revoltion of the late 1960s.
