Cary Grant as Walter, the newspaper editor with Rosalind Russell, the ace reporter.

Ralph Bellamy stars as Bruce Baldwin, the mild-mannered insurance salesman.

Part one
A former "star" reporter, Hildy (Rosalind Russell) returns to the newspaper to tell Walter (Cary Grant), her ex-husband that she is getting married tomorrow.

Part two
Walter tries to trick Hildy into working for the paper. Hildy tells Walter she's marrying an insurance salesman, Bruce Baldwin (Ralph Bellamy). Check out the great scene where Walter meets Bruce for the first time.

Part three
Hildy agrees to write one more story - about a man about to be hanged named Earl Williams. She agrees to this if Walter agrees to purchase a $100,000 insurance policy from Bruce. Then he names Hildy as his beneficiary, which makes Bruce uncomfortable.

Hildy has some great outfits in this movie. I especially like her taste in hats.

Part four
Hildy gets a call from Bruce - he's been arrested for stealing a watch. (He's innocent of course, framed by friends of Walter Burns). Hildy tells Walter off - then Williams escapes from prison and she's back on the story.

Part five
Hildy comes back to the press room and finds Earl Williams, the escaped convict. She calls Walter and smells a scoop. Meanwhile, Molly Malloy throws herself out the window and we meet Hildy's new mother-in-law. Bruce gets arrested again.

Part six
The governor has reprieved Earl, but the local politicians have other plans. Will Hildy end up in Albany with boring Bruce or will she once again fall for Walter. See the fast paced conclusion and find out yourself.
