On May 14, 1948 - David Ben-Gurion, Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Israel proclaims the new state of Israel. Hours later, armies from five Arab nations attacked. In 1956, war erupted again. In 1961, Adolph Eichman was hanged in Israel for his role in the extermination of six million Jews. In 1967 - the third Arab - Israeli war sees Israel expanding its borders by annexing the old part Jerusalum from the Arabs. The U.N. demanded Israel return the captured land. Nothing happened until 1979 with the Camp David Agreement - where Israel returned those lands and made peace with Egypt. But peace with the Palestinians remained remote.
