In London's Wembley stadium, Prince Charles and Princess Diana helped inaugurate a world wide rock fest. We are the World Relief for famine-stricken Africans was the objective of Live Aid, a 16-hour super concert globally linked by satellite to 1 1/2 billion viewers in 169 nations. Sped by Concorde Jet, Phil Collins appears on stages in London (with Sting) and Philadelphia. The good vibrations raised some $75 million for agricultural assistance and an army of musicians and technicians helps originator Bob Geldof sound a chord of hope heard round the world.
