On January 27, 1926 - John Logie Baird, a Scottish inventor, demonstrates a pictorial transmission machine called television. Baird's original invention used rotating disks that divided the image into horizontal lines. Later this was done electronically with a cathode ray tube. The principle behind transmitting images through electric currents had actually existed since 1875. Baird's early British broadcasts reached 100 television sets. By 1928, Baird had made the world's first overseas broadcast from London to New York. Soon after, Bell Labs got into the act with one device to eliminate fluttering (flicker) and an other device to add color. The first TV program aired in Japan was a baseball game in 1931.
