Directed by - (2001) - Color - 1 min The LikeTelevision History channel proudly presents, This Day In History - October 30! On October 30, 1938, Orson Welles scares folks with War of The Worlds broadcast. Orson Welles stirs nationwide panic with his War of the Worlds radio hoax. But Citizen Kane, directed by Welles at age 24 was no hoax, and later films displayed similar cinematic virtuosity. But the public preferred the actor to the artist. (Orson footage - Best part I ever played was in The Third Man, because I didn't have anything to do). Ever the showman, Ever the realist - Orson states, I'm not greedy for luck. I know you can only have so much. And I was incredibly lucky.)
