George Cukor directs, and the movie also features cameos by Milton Berle, Gene Kelly, and Bing Crosby. The musical also features music by Cole Porter. Lionel Newman and Earle Hagen, best known for writing the theme song for the Andy Griffith Show, were nominated for an Oscar in 1961- for Best Music, scoring of a musical picture.
